She’s Got the Pipes to Pay the Bills

I just know you woke up this morning thinking, “I STILL have not heard about Monday’s Celine Dion Concert, and I cannot wait even one day more for a recap!” (If you didn’t, you should have.) Well, many apologies for the delay. It was just so good that I’ve needed a week to collect my thoughts.

As mentioned previously, I think Celine is the cat’s pajamas. I realize this makes me nothing less than a total nerd. However, I wasn’t going to let that stop me from joining Michelle for this show, especially since I’ve been thwarted before.

So we started our evening properly at Zola, then headed to the Verizon Center. And as we made our way through the clouds to our 400-level seats (next time, we have GOT to spring for the floor), our fellow nerds were in full effect. Their excitement was palpable. Who could blame them?

The opening act was excellent, but let’s not mince words: the people were there for Celine. As the lights went down, Michelle and I squealed with delight. Our tiny French-Canadian friend didn’t let us down for the next two hours. She sang everything we love, plus songs we’d never heard before. She also brought a little bit of Vegas with her: between the staging, costuming and choreography, sister puts on a show.

(I can identify with a woman who runs around in three-inch heels. That’s a typical day in my apartment while I listen to my iPod!)

Given that not everyone is a fan, I will spare you the details. Suffice it to say we had a wonderful time, and we have the pictures (dare I say…video?) to prove it. So if you want more, we’ll dish.
