In a surprise development, our wonderful Waterford neighbors, Paul and Suzie, father and mother to dogs Abigail, Annabelle, Elliott, Hannah, Isabelle, and Moussie (in case you didn’t count, that’s six!), adopted a new puppy today. His name is Neige (ryhmes with Tej), which is French for “snow.”
And why is this particularly exciting news to my family? Because Neige is half-brother to my girls, Rose and Daisy. Reports are that he is a sweet, sweet boy who sleeps a lot and is already house-trained.
I think this is a really neat bond to share with our good friends. And, my mom is over the moon that she gets to babysit Neige during the day until he is a little older.
Photos soon!
Did you learn anything exciting today?
I liked this article about the five friends all women should have. Check it out!
Guys, does this ring true for men, also?
As many of you know, I drive a great little car named Homer. Homer is a Honda, and he is good to me.
Yesterday, someone smooshed him while I was getting my hair done (sort of put a damper on that post-salon euphoria that all women experience). But, no one was hurt, the driver left a note, and her insurance company was very nice and accomodating about everything. So as long as it all gets fixed, we’ll just chalk this up to one of those things that happens.
But on the ride home, I thought about how awesome it was that the driver left a note. I know that’s the minimum she could do after her monster truck-style vehicle creamed mine, but she could have easily taken off and left me to take care of the repair bill. And I started to wonder, do people mostly do the right thing?
What do you think?
Have you heard about the bad guy who held some party-goers hostage, then released them in exchange for wine, cheesy nibbles and a hug? I kid you not. Read about it here.
Ok ok ok, Harry Potter and the Dealthy Hollows, the last Harry Potter book, comes out tomorrow (Friday) at midnight. Friends, I AM VERY EXCITED! Because this is going to be a great weekend! Because this is so exciting!
So, my question for you: what do you think will happen to the characters in the book?
I will give a prize to the person whose prediction is closest to what actually happens in the book. And Rena, the prize will not be a party.
Oh, and here’s an interesting interview with author J.K. Rowling.
Hello from Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love! I’m writing as I wait for my train at 30th Street Station (totally hooked on my Verizon Wireless card!). My trip has been fabulous and included all of the following and more:
- old friends
- gorgeous weather
- beautiful architecture
- culinary delights
- upgraded hotel rooms (they liked the color of my dress at Registration?)
- the nicest urbanites I’ve ever met (very flirty men!)
- historical treasures (dare I say National Treasures?)
Oh, and I went to my work conference, which was really good and very inspiring.
So, I love it here, and I definitely plan to come back. They’re calling my train, so I’ll post some pictures when I get home.
…Update from the train: for business class, there are no tables. Also, someone keeps farting. I miss coach class.
Have you heard about the big public potty in China? Yep, there is a massive public restroom with 1,000 ”novelty” potties. Check out this article (NOTE THE PHOTOS), and then tell me: am I the only one who thinks this is weird?
People, I finished that paper. In the end, it was pretty good. Probably. And yes, another one is due Monday. But whatever. Because now I’m headed to Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love! And I am going to do the tourist thing, and go to my work conference, and see a good friend. So yay to that!
What does the weekend hold for you?!
So, I don’t think I’ve mentioned yet that I’m in a speechwriting class this semester, which I really like (but I miss you, Digital Age peeps!). And the workload has not been bad, which is a nice surprise when you forgo a vacation to take summer coursework. But now I have to write a fairly long and relatively challenging speech that’s due Monday, and I’m trying desperately to procrastinate. Any ideas?
Ooh, blogging is a good start!
…OK, I’m back. It’s Sunday, and I am STILL working on this project. What I have is really good (I think?), but it’s taking forever. In the meanwhile, I have:
- completed various chores around my apartment, and I’ve had the Yankee Candles going. It’s so cozy here.
- watched approx. 4 hours of the Food Network. Check out Ace of Cakes!
- seen You’ve Got Mail twice. I’m so glad those kids get together in the end. And I love Meg Ryan’s hair.
- consumed about a pound of strawberries, and I’m waiting to see if I turn pink. (Can that happen? Because I ate a bunch of baby carrots once and was orange-y.)
- worn 2 different pairs of pajamas (though not at the same time). It’s important to be comfortable while procrastinating, or you won’t be effective at it.
And none of this would have been possible if I didn’t have:
- this paper to do.
- a new air conditioner! My apartment is so cool and comfy that I may never re-emerge. I was actually cold last night. Brrr! But I will still check out your pools for you, loyal readers, because I am nothing if not service-oriented. And because I haven’t spoken with anyone for two days, and I could get lonely soon.
Call me!
