I Need More!

Filed under: Uncategorized — by accidentalluddite @ 11:53 pm

Friends, I am hooked on Arrested Development.  I blame Janet and Rob, who first introduced me to the show.  Then, I saw reruns a few weeks ago and decided to buy the first season on DVD.  It only took 24 hours to get through three disks!  Obviously, I have to buy seasons two and three as well.  I’m bummed that the series only lasted that long because it’s so clever and funny, but I’ll take what I can get.

What program hooked you in and then hit the road?

Save the Music

As I mentioned previously, a band called The Veltz Family played this Thursday at the Arlington Cinema N Drafthouse.  In addition to a concert, the band premiered a documentary called “Before the Music Dies,” which illustrates the current direction of the music industry.   Jeff gives a good recap of the film and the point here.

If you are interested in watching “Before the Music Dies,” let me know.  Even if you don’t create music, film, or art, you probably consume it, and you probably want to continue to do so.  Check it out.

I just saw this article on cnn.com and thought that my JHU480 friends (or anyone who’s read The Search) would appreciate it…

Splish Splash!

I spent the entire day outside at a charity golf event, and the weather was super gorgeous.  It was also sort of hot.  With Memorial Day just around the corner, both of these factors made me think about swimming pools.

As you may recall, I don’t have air conditioning at my apartment.  Actually, I don’t have a pool, either.  So, I think it would be good to put out there that I would be happy to visit YOUR pool if you need me to.  Just let me know.  I can also experience your air conditioning, because I am nothing if not service-oriented.

The Bad Place

So, I’ve avoided doing laundry for a few days now, and my reasons have been good.  It’s go time, though, as my clean laundry supply has reached a critical low.  The problem is, I’m terrified of the laundry room in my building, which I refer to as The Bad Place.

Do you have a bad place?

Wanted: One Time Machine

Filed under: Uncategorized — by accidentalluddite @ 6:41 am

Ever since school let out for a few weeks, I’ve tried to do the little errands and chores that tend to pile up over the semester.  Oh, and have fun.  And while I’m making good progress, there never seems to enough time on weekends to get it all done.  So, if anyone has a time machine

Alternatively, I’m thinking of getting a personal assistant.  Or a nanny!

What did you accomplish this weekend?

Down with Mother Nature

If I were a character on The Jefferson’s (or perhaps one of the seven dwarfs), I’d be Wheezy (was there a Wheezy dwarf?  Smurf, maybe?).  Does anyone else feel crushed under the boot of cruel, cruel Mother Nature?

Congratulations Billy!

Filed under: Uncategorized — by accidentalluddite @ 10:57 am

A big “Congratulations!” to Billy T., husband of Michelle T., who graduated with his Master’s this week!  Billy took on four classes this last semester and finished his thesis and worked full-time.  The man is a machine.

Some of us will raise a glass to Billy this afternoon — and you should, too!

Who do you know who deserves some congratulations?

Do You Like Apples?

When I drove out to Waterford last Sunday, I realized the farm stands are open!  I am a big proponent of farm stands when they support family farmers.  Plus, seeing them always make me feel like summer has started.  So, if you are in or near Western Loudoun some Saturday this summer, I suggest you check out the Route 15 corridor.  There is nothing better than corn on the cob that came from a nearby field that day.  And, if you’re really lucky, they might have baked goods.  Sometimes, they even let Daisy help check things out.

Just in case you don’t find yourself in Western Loudoun too frequently, here are links to some farmers markets in the region.  Keep in mind that most don’t allow pets (but Daisy understands):

BTW, you can visit Chowhound for all kinds of food-related information which, let’s face it, is some of the most important information out there!

What kicks-off summer for you?
